Even though we’re about to give you some actionable tips on how you can go about increasing your self-esteem, always remember that no tip or trick in the world will work unless you are willing to put in the effort to change. Even God helps people who try to help themselves.
Let’s dive right in shall we?
Mindfulness is a borderline “buzz word” in today’s world. No one actually understands what it means to be mindful. No, it is not about sitting in nature with your eyes closed, observing your thoughts. You don’t need to become a monk in order to be mindful. You simply need to be aware of what you’re thinking on a day to day basis. Just by being aware of the negative self-talk, you can start to identify the effect it has on your self-worth.
- Be active
Becoming active is one of the best things you can do for your self-esteem. If you look like you just came out of KFC eating 5 extra-cheese burgers you’ll probably have a hard time keeping faith and confidence in yourself. I’m not saying that people who are overweight cannot be confident, what I intend to say is that if you’re already suffering from low self-esteem, getting fit will definitely contribute towards building that self-worth up.
- Focus on your strengths
We all have our strengths and weaknesses, instead of trying to cover your weaknesses, use your strengths to your advantage.
According to Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
- Don’t be a victim
One of the worst things you can do in life is to act like a victim and blame circumstances and external factors for everything that is wrong in your life. By doing this you lose control over your life, tell me, how do you fix something which you don’t even have control over?
That’s it, remember, taking action is key here.
